List of auxiliary powered Sailing Yachts (see power yachts below)

Marigold, 17.98m, 1892.
This was the first of Charles Nicholson’s large yacht designs and her plumb bow and elegant counter stern are testimony to his youthful genius in the latter part of the 19th century. Many years, many miles, and much investment later, Marigold now once again graces the regatta circuit for which she was in part designed. Also a fine cruising boat, her rig is surprisingly easy to handle and her mahogany interior, based largely on the original, provides accommodation in the traditional style for six guests and two crew, although she can take up to 12 guests for day cruising. The future owner of Marigold can rest assured that he has one of the jewels of British yachting history. Currently being well maintained and raced in the Mediterranean, visits to the yacht are encouraged in the knowledge that very few will go away unmoved by the experience.’
€550,000
Pegasus 20.16m 1990.
A wooden sailing yacht built by Italian yard Cantieri Sangermani in 1990. Designed in the first instance to be a fast and seaworthy classic racing yacht, Pegasus more recently underwent a refit which gave her a luxurious, comfortable interior for cruising. She accommodates six guests in a master and two doubles, and has an additional forward double cabin for crew. Pegasus is interesting in that she is virtually the last boat to be built by the Sangermani yard.
€620,000
Varuna 21.4m 1909
Originally called White Heather, Varuna is a 12 Metre gaff-rigged classic of 21.4 meters length overall, which came from the design boards of A Richardson and was built in 1909 by Philip & Son. She was completely restored in 2000 at Italian yard Imperia, when her interior was returned to its original layout by Architect Giorgetti, based on plans retrieved from the British Museum, and her original 1909 sail plan was used to build her artificially ‘aged’ Dacron wardrobe, much of it renewed in 2007. While great efforts have been made to preserve the atmosphere of an old 12 Metre, contemporary comforts have not been completely sacrificed – Varuna has an engine, basic instrumentation and the necessary modern fittings. Sailing on Varuna is like dreaming … She is soft on the waves and makes you felt like you are a true yachtsman.

Serena 26.68m 1983
Unique, this is one of the sailing yachts built by Benetti Sail Division during its relatively short stint as a sailboat builder between 1978 and the mid 1980s. She was designed by Laurent Giles with naval architecture by Bruno Benetti, and her interior has the stamp of Stefano Natucci. She accommodates up to eight guests in an owner’s suite, two doubles and a study that can be converted into a cabin, while a crew of three occupies the crew quarters which has a separate entrance. Serena has had only one owner since new and, immaculately maintained, is in perfect condition. The owner is now very keen to sell.

Blue Titan 26.82m 1988
Designed by the renowned Ted Hood and built in Taiwan, Blue Titan is a powerful sailing yacht with world cruising capabilities. She not only has a strengthened ice-breaker hull, but also a shallow draft that gives her access to a much wider range of harbours and anchorages than most superyachts. Burrasca 55.7m 2003
A sailing yacht built by Perini Navi in 2003. Designed by Ron Holland with Perini Navi, this all-aluminium superyacht is MCA classed. Accommodation is for up to 12 guests in a master suite, two double and two twin staterooms plus two Pullman berths. Twin 1256hp Deutz engines give Burrasca a cruising speed of 13 knots and a range of 3,750 nautical miles.
The first of Perini Navi’s 56 metre series of yachts, Burrasca‘s proven sailing performance and handling, luxurious yet flexible accommodation and solidly reliable engineering and systems platform blazed the trail for nine (and counting) other individually customized versions, including Selene (see below) An aluminium hull rather than the yard’s former choice of steel combined with a slippery hull line optimized by Ron Holland, and a deep, ballasted centerboard gives her much improved sailing performance over her Perini predecessors. She began a world cruise immediately upon leaving Perini Navi’s Viareggio yard.
Asking €22.5m
Selene 56m
A beautiful sailing ketch. Built by Perini Navi and boasting a Ron Holland design, her sleek lines and overhanging flying bridge are hallmarks of their aesthetic style. Her aluminum construct assures speed with uncompromised comfort. Selene features a very elegant innovation in her transom, which hydraulically opens and reveals a structural staircase ending with a wide swimming platform for guest access to the sea. Her modern art deco-inspired interior won the best sailing yacht interior award at the World Superyacht Awards 2008 and she also featured in the 2008 edition of The Superyachts book.
The fourth 56 metre to be launched by Perini Selene may share the qualities and attributes of her 56 metre sisters, but she has her own character and elegant innovations, among them a hydraulically opening transom, which contains a structural staircase descending to a wide bathing platform, a portside platform and some differences in layout including a larger, athwartships dining room forward of the saloon and a corridor allowing crew to move from the aft cockpit to the crew quarters without impinging on guest privacy. Her richly detailed and flawlessly executed art deco interior – accomplished by Perini Navi’s own designer Bernardo Chichi – won Best Sailing Yacht Interior at the 2008 World Superyacht Awards.
